UPS Monitor Program

It was necessary for me to roll a quick C program to monitor a UPS given to me by a colleague. For this unit (at the time), there was no interface software needed to detect AC power outage and initiate an automated OS shutdown.

Herein are the components to build this very simple but robust program that served me well for a few years till that UPS died and was replaced with a new unit for which interface software did exist.
